From a young age, I was interested in music and sounds, as I got older, my interest got stronger because today the only way I can express myself is through my music which I really enjoy doing. When I see my family and friends around me enjoying the sounds that I produce, it makes me feel like I am doing something good for people.
The music and sounds that I talk about aren’t just the music that you play on musical instruments, it’s also about the sounds we produce when we talk when we work when we connect; the rhythm that you feel. I know it may sound weird to you, but that’s just how I see the world around me, like it’s all a rhythm and harmony in some way.
From what I believe, rhythm, sounds, and music are what make us human and connect us with each other. I think my belief started to manifest when I was a kid. As time went on, with my belief about the music I love, me and a friend got into an altercation. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a guy comes between us to stops us from fighting one another. He said to me,“young man, let me rap to you a minute. He said, you guys don’t need to be fighting like this. I want you to shake hands right now or he's not leaving to make him leave we shook hands. We both can see he wasn't playing. This situation happened a few times over. We became friends again, and he smiled as we shook hands, after a split second we looked around and this peaceful man was gone like vanished away.
To me, this guy represents a balance of love and hate the rhythm, the sounds, and the music in my life and that is also the reason why rap is and always will be a positive thing for me. I was around six to seven years old when these incidents were happening, and today, I’m over 50 years old and the rap escalated into music which became influentially negative. I hope that today’s rap artists can help me clean our music a little. I want the rap world to know that we have a job to do, like cleaning up our rap music it represent us in America. We can’t let our music be destroy us with negativity because that isn’t what my younger thoughts would want me to do.
I see us struggling, trying to make it through life, trying to keep ourselves from breaking down. I want to let you know that I understand. We all are living in that struggle, and by nature, it’s a challenge. We all have been in the storm in our own ways; in fact, we are in that storm right now. Still, we would not let the struggle break us down have fun with it. We will learn from it – it our best teacher. We do no have time to give up on what we dream through difficult times. We have time to help one other through my music, love and happiness.
So join me on a journey to help restore the balance of life, the sounds of nature, and the music of the universe.
